ASCE7-05 Erratta sheet

ASCE7-05 Erratta sheet

ASCE7-05 Erratta sheet

(OP)
Just noticed this in researching an upcoming project, but in Table 15.4-2 Seismic Coefficients for Non-Building Structures NOT similar to Buildings at the bottom of the table, left corner, there is an entry that reads "All other self-supporting structures ..... that are similar to buildings." (underline added)

I assume the word "not" was omitted and that it should read "...that are not similar to buildings."

Can anybody verify that with either an errata sheet publication, or perhaps the current edition of ASCE7?

RE: ASCE7-05 Erratta sheet

Mike,
I checked ASCE 7-10 and it has the same verbage as ASCE 7-05 ie"...that are similar to buildings". I don't really understand why this Nonbuilding Structure Type is shown in Table 15.4-2 and not in 15.4-1 (which is for Nonbuilding Structures that are similar to Buildings).

You might want to check the Commentary, C15 to see if it offers any thoughts on the subject. Depending on what this structure is,you might check out NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for New Buildings and Other Structures, FEMA P-750 / 2009 Edition. It has a 20 page discussion about the design of Nonbuilding Structures.
