Complex blend
Complex blend
(OP)
Hi All
Attached is a componet which will be a casting. You will see an over hanging face and the challenge we are facing is making nice blended edges bewteen all the faces that converge in the right hand lower corner. We have tried to do it without using free-form, I would love to see a few different plans of attack.
Cheers

Try adding a few edge blends at different points in your history tree.
Also, you may be able to get what ever result you are looking for by simply doing multiple edge blends and the order will matter as well.

RE: Complex blend
Please check if the blends look ok.i have not blended it completely but covered most of the region.i have done it in NX8.5 (blend value 3mm throughout all edges) so sharing the parasolid file.

Kapil, you have ridge on the sloping face, you would need to increase the size of the longest blend to remove this.
Thanks for everyones input

RE: Complex blend
Thanks for the valuable suggestion.Sorry i didn't knew the exact blend values initially ....but now i have done it once again taking blend value reference from your model....
I have not used any FACE BLEND however and did it entirely using EDGE BLEND only (used option special blend at conxex/concave Y).
I know this thread is more or less complete but thought probably i can still share it with you all.

Can you post the .prt so I can see the features you have used?

RE: Complex blend
Sorry actually I have done it in NX8.5 (due to my current work platform NX8/NX8.5).But i will still attach it here.I will see if i can find someone who can replicate it in NX7.5.
Thanks and Best Regards

Therefore, as unique topological cases are encountered, even if you manage to force the issue using a less than ideal series of operations, as Simon did with a mix of 'Face' and 'Edge' blends, it would be useful to us if you were to contact GTAC and have them open an IR/PR along with any example models that you could provide them so that these will get back to Cambridge where the Parasolid people can add them to their collection of special cases and which will help them in their efforts to 'tweak' the code for one more unique situation.

RE: Complex blend
here's another attempt. I tried to do it slightly different, the objective was to separate the blend chains to ease that difficult vertex.
Model from 8.5.

Genius! Such a simple step as the chamfer makes it so, so easy.
A shiney purple star for your effort!!!
