HI
if you have experience with rating existing heat exchanger with engineering softwares such as HTRI,HTFS,... or design new exchanger ,which one is reliable
if it is possible upload files

Are you trying to compare the software programs HTRI and HTFS? I've heard of the first one, not so much of the second one (which doesn't mean that it isn't reliable.) Uploading files of the commercial programs would be a copyright infringement and would not be advisable.

Also, without any implication that you are in need of this, are you aware of the new translation forum: forum1529: Translation Assistance for Engineers? This forum allows you to ask a question in your native language, if it is not English -- not to get an engineering answer but to figure out how to best say it in English. Multi-lingual long-term posters are “standing by” to assist in translating your query to English and directing you to the best Eng-Tips forum.

RE: comparision of heat exchanger design softwares

I can tell you that HTRI has their own research facility and that their software is based on research and actual operating data. I can tell you that HTRI is strong in S&T's and air coolers but seem to have a ways to go with plate type Hx's.

I can tell you what I have heard about Aspentech, but I would rather let others with firsthand experience relate theirs.

RE: comparision of heat exchanger design softwares

We has used Aspentech forever, for both thermal and mechanical design. We have discovered a number of errors over the years.

RE: comparision of heat exchanger design softwares

chem1357,

What is your application and what type of HX's are being used? As stated by rmw, these softwares are good in specific type of heat exchangers. I have used HTRI and its very good for S&T, both rating and design. The software also supports different types of fin configurations which makes it easy to rate extended surface heat exchangers.

RE: comparision of heat exchanger design softwares

I am told that Aspentech doesn't handle condensing in an air stream being cooled witn an extended surface Hx, but I haven't independently verified it.

thanks to heatexguy
may i ask heatexguy describe errors you discovered using aspentech
thanks alot

Hi heatexguy
may i ask you describe errors using aspentech
thanks alot

RE: comparision of heat exchanger design softwares

Aspentech does handle condensation on air with extended surface, unless you are talking of non round tubes.

Finding errors always happen in software, the real question is did aspentech fixed them after you told them...
