need working pressure and Pmax for butane/propane tanks

need working pressure and Pmax for butane/propane tanks

Anybody knows where I can find documentation about the small tanks (see link https://www.google.be/search?q=camping%20gasfles&a... ) of butane and/or propane?

Problem is as follows: gaseous pressure or propane is about 8.5 bar (123 psi) @ room temp (20 °C) but when stored outdoors, in direct sunlight, temp can go as high as 50-60 °C (120-140 F) > pressire in the tanks could rise up to 18 bar (260 psi) and some old documentation I've found is that the test pressure of those tanks is 20 bars (only 30 psi more than could be expected in summer sun). I don't know however whether or not that information is still valid.

any pointers to as where I might find such info is very much appreciated!

RE: need working pressure and Pmax for butane/propane tanks

If your calculations are correct, I do not understand the problem. If the tanks are designed for the service condition, there need not be additional factors added to pressure or temperature, as the necessary factors are built into the code calculations.

RE: need working pressure and Pmax for butane/propane tanks

There should be ASME and DOT standards for such tanks.

Best to you,

The calcs are correct, I just don't know whether the (rather old) info I've found is correct. hence I'm asking where I could find that info.

There probably are. Most probably there are also euro codes that address this (I'm from europe). Just need to find those...
