Need help angling plains in solidworks

Need help angling plains in solidworks

I'm having a major amount of difficulty getting my plains to angle. I've tried a thousand times to do it how i'm being taught, but its still ending up flat. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, if anything at all. Can anybody help me out? Thanks

RE: Need help angling plains in solidworks

Reference geometry->Plane. Select a plane and a line/edge, then the angle command in the FM. You'll probably need to play with your choices to get the angle you want.

RE: Need help angling plains in solidworks

Start the Plane tool
Select a Plane
Select the Angle option and set the angle
Select an axes, edge, two vertices/end points, or a sketched line
Select the green check mark

RE: Need help angling plains in solidworks

A lot of times I find the best place to start a plane is with a sketch. It is often easier to define reference geometry using 2D or 3D sketch, and then creating desired plane/axis/CSYS.

RE: Need help angling plains in solidworks

If you have trouble creating a particular plane - provide as much information (preferably a *.sldprt file) about the plane as you can.
Someone here will show you the way. Once you understand the options is is fairly trivial to create any desired workplane.

WOW! thanks everybody. I feel so stupid because all I had to do was sketch one line in 3D and on in 2D and it worked. WOW! I'm just learning solidworks for the company I work for so yea I needed to figure this out to go on. Thanks so much.thumbsup

RE: Need help angling plains in solidworks

My guess is you didn't really need the 3Dsketch line.
Can you attach the file here?

RE: Need help angling plains in solidworks

I agree with rollupswx, it should not need a 3d sketched line, also curious what the plane is used for? I have seen designers create planes without realizing the features they want to create can be accomplished simpler than they first assume. Just conjecture without knowing the specifics of course.
