NX 2 or NX 6 File conversion to dgn

(OP)
Hi

Anyone know if it is possible to export UG files to Microstation .dgn files or a method by which this can be acheived.
Our client uses Microstation and would like to place our model into their building layout.

Ny help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Stuart

RE: NX 2 or NX 6 File conversion to dgn

I don't know what to say when i read this question, i have heard it so many times but most often the file format to accomplish is dxf or dwg.
.dgn is a Bentley / Microstation proprietary file format and not a standard for file transfer.
.dxf and .dwg are Autodesk /Autocad proprietary and not standardized file transfer formats.
Step and Iges are standardized file transfer formats. Microstation's (as well as Autocad's) "unwillingness" to use these formats is ....
It's always NX that is expected by the users to write files in "the other" systems file format. (!)

I have had some success using parasolid files when exporting to / from Microstation. I have seen some pretty strange results too...

Sorry for the whining.

Regards,
Tomas

That may soon be changing:

Nothing that can be discussed at the moment other than what's available in the press, but who knows what this might lead to...

The collaboration is still in its infancy. And these are no little things that the partners have decided to get to work on. One thing is already clear while explaining the reasons for the partnership: The end of the huge data silos that have emerged in the industry and still continue o be created, is not "All-in-One", a single system that manages and controls everything. It is the skillful networking of the individual systems, specialized on each technical crew. Standards play an important role. And with the help of the solutions coming, the industry can standardize their processes.

To the Toolmaker, your nice little cartoon drawing of your glass looks cool, but your solid model sucks. Do you want me to fix it, or are you going to take all week to get it back to me so I can get some work done?

Well, if you look at the contact page for PLMportal you'll see that it's headquartered in Germany.
