Use Digital Piano as a Player Piano?

Use Digital Piano as a Player Piano?

Use Digital Piano as a Player Piano?

(OP)
I've been wanting to do this since purchasing the Kawai ES4 about 5-6 years ago.

I've a Kawai ES4 digital player piano and several piano "pieces" as sheet music. My objective is to take the sheet music, scan it, and use software to "convert" the sheet music into a "playable" format, which can be sent to the piano via usb cable. The piano would then play the sheet music, similar to a player piano, but in digital format. By "playable" format, I would like to basically use the piano as a digital player piano.

I've not a clue what hardware or software (?) will accomplish this task. Any recommendations or suggestions are appreciated.

RE: Use Digital Piano as a Player Piano?

Assuming you actually have the software in hand, then you should be able to convert to MIDI, which your piano supports.

Oh, I just read your last line. There is no software that does that specific thing. You could get a conventional sheet music creation software and manually transcribe the music into electronic form, which can then be output as MIDI.

RE: Use Digital Piano as a Player Piano?

OK, I see. Sure, the first cite has MIDI output, so you could make it work. OCR is certainly way better than it used to be. Presumably, though, input quality needs to be high.

IRStuff and prex,

thanks! bigsmile

I've a macbook pro (10.6.8), so the Smartscore X2 software appears to be able to meet the needs. wait and see . . .
