SHORING DESIGN

SHORING DESIGN

(OP)
Hi, could someone advice me on the best software to purchase on Shoring design. I have a project where we have to retain an overburden up to 10 m ( three basements). There are so many softwares in the market that I am a little confused,

RE: SHORING DESIGN

I do my designes by hand.

Too much judgement required in most designs.

RE: SHORING DESIGN

Three level basement excavation retention is too much for your first shoring design task. Often the shoring contractor has an inhouse engineer or a consultant that will design the way that contractor prefers to build it. Call their consultant and ask for books & references, then start reading them. Be careful about adopting their design calculations automatically until you have had a chance to learn from the books.

Thanks for the advice. I do have experience ( have designed three basements before but the calculations are too tedious). I wanted to purchase a software that can make my work easier. Has anybody out there used a software that is reliable. How is the shoring suite from civiltechs?

RE: SHORING DESIGN

CivilTech's Shoring Suite is excellent. It designs like you would (or should) by hand calcs. It is not a sophisticated finite element program.
