Welcome and Hello

Welcome and Hello

(OP)
Welcome. This forum was started with the aim of allowing people to post in their native languages and to allow some of the long-term multi-lingual posters to respond. The people responding might not have the detailed technical expertise available in the other forums, but the idea is to help break down language barriers that might otherwise exist. Although I'm posting in English, I'm hoping some others will be coming along soon to repeat this message in other languages to give an idea of what is available.

RE: Welcome and Hello

Namaste (greetings), Dhanyavad (Thanks for the invite) : Language; Hindi.

Sawatdee krup, Hello, greetings in Thai, also thanks for the invite.

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

IR Stuff, If you want to take my posting down and post yours in its place, since you're the owner, feel welcome. I was just feeling very strange yesterday with a forum all by myself with no one in it and no posts.

RE: Welcome and Hello

EnergyMix's message -dd 28 Jan 13- translated to (argentine) spanish.

RE: Welcome and Hello

Energy Mix/ Ir stuff,
This is a long overdue forum on this website, thank you for getting it going.
I speak French and German but not always well enough to get into the more technical parts of some documents.
Auto translators while good do not always get into the idiom of a language. Example Arbre de sortie/ output tree, close but no cigar.

RE: Welcome and Hello

Great initiative! Is there a way to get notified when a thread is initiated in a specific language? For example, I would be interested in getting/helping with postings in English to/from Spanish.

Gracias
Saludos.

That is a problem. The only way to easily do it is to look for the Green Star by the forum which indicates a new entry and then click on the forum to see if what's changed. If it's not a thread in Spanish, you can click out pretty quickly. There's a post over in the Linked-In forum advertizing the existance of the forum, so hopefully a lot of people are adding it. And you can always do as some of us are doing and put in a plug in your signature block (to to My Stuff and add a signature) and indicate that you're available as a Spanish translator.

And a hat tip to you and the other folks who are multi-lingual. I feel definitely uncultured having only one language.
