Running Ansys at Amazon EC2 Cluster. Is it possible?

(OP)
Hi all!

Has anyone used the Amazon EC2 cluster to run an Ansys analysis? Is it possbile?

Thank you!

RE: Running Ansys at Amazon EC2 Cluster. Is it possible?

That's an interesting question. Ansys has to be installed on the cluster to run, so there's probably a licensing issue to work out. I'd recommend you work with ANSYS directly, but please report back with your findings.

One thing to watch out for would be export controls and the like; in some industries, sending technical data over the internet could be an issue (if you actually read the commerce control list, your mind will be boggled by the ridiculousness). Also, be aware that file transfer times between the cluster and the client machine can be significant if you're going over the internet.
