We are writing standard at our plant for proof testing hydraulic systems. These are mainly hydraulic power units piped with stainless steel tubing operating a cylinder or a hydraulic motor in the field. Currently the standard states that the system needs to be proof tested a 125% of maximum operating pressure. This proof testing has to be done remotely. However to achieve this pressure the relief valve has to be raised up locally so performing this remotely isn't possible. I would like to change this 125% of maximum operating pressure to 100% maximum operating pressure. Is there an ASME standard or a DoD standard or SAE standard that addresses proof testing of hydraulic power units?

I believe 125% is the fluid component standard proof test. Look up the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) for possible relevant standards.
