Books of Basic of Pressure Vessel Design and Process

Books of Basic of Pressure Vessel Design and Process

(OP)
I am working as an estimator for ASME Section VIII, Div.1 pressure vessels fabrication, but I am very new to pressure vessels.

I was wondering if you guys would know of any books explaining basic design and how the vessels function? Any help would be great.

Thanks!

RE: Books of Basic of Pressure Vessel Design and Process

Search the forum with "books pressure vessel" and you will find this was been addressed often.

Two essential to have at your fingertips are Megyesy and Moss IMO

RE: Books of Basic of Pressure Vessel Design and Process

Don't get Megesy, get Bednar instead. I will swap anyone my copy of Megesy for Bednar or Moss if they are interested?

RE: Books of Basic of Pressure Vessel Design and Process

EngAddict,

I think the simple solution is to get all three. The nozzle loads in Megesy have saved me time more than once.

RE: Books of Basic of Pressure Vessel Design and Process

I have all three, for someone "very new to pressure vessels" and "an estimator" I have a hard time seeing how Megesy would not be of a benefit.

RE: Books of Basic of Pressure Vessel Design and Process

This is my reasoning.. 75% of the book you will never use, 20 years ago it would have been useful but not today. The other 25% you can get from the other books but in greater detail and with more theory. We have Bednar at work and I have an electronic copy of Moss and they are both very good.

If you want to spend the money, the go ahead, you may find it useful. If you are only going to buy one or two then I would start with the others first. Different people prefer different types of references, if you have the cash then get them all.

RE: Books of Basic of Pressure Vessel Design and Process

How about the Pressure Vessel Handbook?

And maybe API650

RE: Books of Basic of Pressure Vessel Design and Process

About the ASME code VIII, Div 1&2 and all other related ASME code books.

RE: Books of Basic of Pressure Vessel Design and Process

Are there any test books devoted to finite element analysis of pressure vessels?

I meant,
Are there any text books devoted to finite element analysis of pressure vessels?
