Weld Beads in Drawings

Weld Beads in Drawings

Weld Beads in Drawings

(OP)
Good afternoon. I am finally on SW2013 and we have recently started to using weld beads in our assemblies, which we can see. My question is, is there away to make the weld beads visible in the drawings? I would like to see more that the weld symbol in the drawing. Thanks in advance for any advise.

RE: Weld Beads in Drawings

Unless the weld bead tool has been vastly improved since 2011-ish... you're better off without it.
It only did basic but weld fillets.
And it's pointless to see this in a drawing...
You will use the WELD SYMBOL TOOL to annotate your drawing... right?

Unless you need to see this in a model for a pretty picture...
Then I think you'll have to make these "manually".

... unless the weld bead tool is vastly improved in 2012 & 13.

RE: Weld Beads in Drawings

Is this what you are looking for? I think may be the only way to do it at the assembly level.
Insert, Model Items, Caterpillar

If you make a multibody weldment (assembly) file from a .SLDPRT, you can place weld beads in that file. They will then be physically shown on the drawing.

The help files should be beneficial as well.

Thanks for the response CADFlyer your idea sounded god, but there is one problem, I could not find Model Item in Insert pull down.

RE: Weld Beads in Drawings

The Caterpillar symbol can be applied to a drawing view via Insert > Annotations > Caterpillar.

If a weld bead has been applied in the assy nodel, the Caterpillar can be inserted to a drawing view via Insert > Model items > Annotations > Caterpillar.

Thanks CortBlimeyLimey, that is almost what I was hoping for. It works, but only only straight edges and I I usually have cylinders and diameters to work with and weld together, so I guess I am kind of screwed have. Thanks for the info anyway.morning
