Piezoelectric (PZT) beam modeling

Piezoelectric (PZT) beam modeling

Piezoelectric (PZT) beam modeling

(OP)
Hi all,

Let me start off to say I new at Abaqus. The problem I'm solving is the following:

I have a piezoelectric beam (L=6, h=0.2, t=0.1) which is clamped on one side. Than, I apply two boundary conditions: (i) one side (back) I apply an electric potential of 0 magnitude (ii) on the other side (front) I apply an electric potential of 1000 magnitude. The displacement I should I get is: 1.23e-5 (from the analytical expression: delta displacement = d31*Voltage*Length/height) but I get a displacement of ...e-16.

I think the problem is with the magnitude of the boundary condition, since I my not sure if should apply a magnitude of 1000 or I should apply another value to it. My goal is to simulate a 1000 Volt input on the piezoelectric beam. I hope someone can help me with this problem.

Thanks and kind regards,
