Crevice corrosion

Crevice corrosion

Crevice corrosion

(OP)
Hi there,
I am quite new in here and I am searching for a material or something to avoid contact between a tank and a skid. In the attachment you can see how the equipment is. We have a tank assembled over a skid, metal to metal, and we have been facing crevice corrosion over the past few years. Nobody never made a critical analisys. I am thinking about to put some material between the tank and the skid.
Moreover, the equipment has vibration due to pumps installed close to it and the equipment itself weights something around 4 tons. So, which material could I use to prevent the crevice corrosion, besides the contact metal to metal?

sorry for the English anyway)

Regards

Barbieri

RE: Crevice corrosion

Looks like the packing material of the pump shafts have leaked in the past and these leaks were not properly care for. Chip and wire brush to remove gross scale, hand grind to bare metal, replenish excessive metal loss with weld overlays, and paint surfaces. No need to insert material, just take care of future leaks from packing by cleanning immediately. Reschedule painting job when needed but dont repaint over rust stain without first cleaning the affected areas.
