HVAC CFD
(OP)
I have just been given the task of finding a suitable CFD software for my company. We design custom air handling units and computer room air conditioning units and we cater mostly to the data center market. We wish to use our CFD software for analysing airflow, temperature, heat transfer, phase change and relative humidity inside our air handling equipment and inside our data centers. We also will be using it for R&D purposes. Ive looked into ANSYS CFX, CFDesign, and currently looking at FLOW3D. Can anyone reccomend a CFD package that can provide us with what we need and is budgetwise since we are looking into purchasing multiple licenses at once.
Thanks
Thanks

knowledge is power

if you are stretched with budget even more, you can always use old refrigerators as simulation-servers, taking care that loads match

To manufacture AHU's and CRAC's you should research CFD products that are compatible with your solid modelling design software.
To design or develop the AHU in the context of the data center, I would be looking to develop your AHU/CRAC as a block for input into a dedicated Datacenter design CFD package like F/F 6sigma or similar.
A package like Ansys can do this, but it is very time consuming to set up the models for the DC simulation.
