Three phase transformer question

Three phase transformer question

Three phase transformer question

(OP)
I have a three phase HV delta LV star connected transformer (Dy11). The name plate gives the following information: 400KVA rated, HV is 3.3KV at 70 amps, LV is 433v at 534 amps. My question: is the current on the name plate total three phase current, or is it current per phase. Simple for you guys I know but it is something I need to get my head around.

Thanks

RE: Three phase transformer question

534A per phase.

Use the relationship P=V*I*√3 when dealing with balanced 3-phase loads, or with the rating of equipment designed to supply balanced 3-phase loads. Unbalanced loads need to be dealt with differently.

RE: Three phase transformer question

In name plates of three phase transformers always the line currents are shown and not winding phase current which will be less with delta connection.

RE: Three phase transformer question

Surefire01....the current is always what each phase sees, not the total sum current seen by all phases.
