pump performance curve for viscose lquid

(OP)

Hi all;

i want to trnsfer the crude oil with following condition in process P&ID:
1- Q= 110 m3/hr
2- H= 65 m
3- Viscosity= 104 CP

i want to fill the mechanical data sheet, could you please help me how can i report the flow rate and diff head?
should i report exact flow and head in data sheet or i have to apply the correction factor in them and then reprt it?
the correction factor is 0.95 and i dont know wich one should i report?
H=65 or H=(65/0.95)= 69
Q= 110 or Q= 110/0.95?

thanks

RE: pump performance curve for viscose lquid

I don't wish to sound disrespectful, but are you being paid to do this work? I seems that all your posts to date you are asking others to do what you are being paid to do. There are numerous websites available to you for self education on pump hydraulics and I would suggest that you avail yourself of some of them and at least show you have done some research on your problem/s.

For the current question, what do you think would be the best way to report the pump performance on the data sheet - why / why not would be a good exercise to start with.

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

If you are the user you just fill the figures as in the P&ID. The pump vendor will take care of the correction and put it down in the performance curve.

RE: pump performance curve for viscose lquid

You've applied the correction factors backwards, higher viscosity does not increase flow. Think of the correction factors as a percentage of the water data, the corrected values for head, flow, and efficiency will be less than or equal to 100%.

well noted
thanks

RE: pump performance curve for viscose lquid

He is not wrong in applying the correction backward in his thinking..because he thought that he was going to fill the data sheets with the corrected values to water and the vendor will select the pump accordingly. In other words.. he was trying to do the work of the pump vendor.

RE: pump performance curve for viscose lquid

I agree with Pumpsonly. mirghaffari needs to specify the fluid. I always go back to TDH/Flow of H2O and put a NOTE on the bottom as to the actual fluid.
