Help needed in understanding pressure vessel nameplate

Help needed in understanding pressure vessel nameplate

Help needed in understanding pressure vessel nameplate

(OP)
Hello,
Would you be able to interpret the nameplate info on this vessel?

We are using an older (1960s) pressure vessel, the nameplate reads

CRN. 4800.5.
N.S.P. 3442.
TS.55000.
W.P.236.TEMP.354.
SH.4375.HDS.387.
UW.12.C.31.10.62.
H.W.C.

This is what we know:
CRN is Canadian Registration Number
WP is working (or max) pressure
TEMP is working (or max) temperature
UW denotes the type of welding
31.10.62 seems to be the manufacturing date

Thank you.

RE: Help needed in understanding pressure vessel nameplate

I can add that as the CRN is XXXX.5, this vessel was registered in Ontario.
TS might be Tensile Strength= 55000 psig

Thank you, Frank1344; yes the vessel is in Ontario smile
The volume of the vessel is of a particular interest... But unsure if it is listed in one of the numbers in the nameplate

RE: Help needed in understanding pressure vessel nameplate

SH.4375.HDS.387, at a guess, shell & head thickness.

UW.12.C, neither spot nor full RT, again a guess.

Agree w/ Frank1344, no guesses on the rest.

Regards,

Mike

I am hoping the volume of the tank is listed on the nameplate as well...

RE: Help needed in understanding pressure vessel nameplate

I would kind of doubt it...

RE: Help needed in understanding pressure vessel nameplate

You can calculate the volume.

Using Ansys:)
