Modify Part Description

(OP)
Hey everybody. New here.

I'm the intern at my firm and i've been given the job of taking some of our older products (assemblies of various numbered parts) and updating them withs ome new parts. Final result needs to be a balloned assembly drawing with a BOM. Problem is the BOM table needs to be fully filled out - parts having appropriate descriptions out of our parts database - but most of the parts in our system were not given a description when created. I'd like to fix that, but AFAIK part descriptions are set in stone. I poked a round for a way but only found that the description relation, in the "Parameters" dialog, is locked.

How can I fix this? Thanks, much appreciated.

RE: Modify Part Description

Some additional information is needed.
What version of Pro/Engineer are you usingl; Wildfire4, Wildfire5, Creo1, Creo2?
Are you using a PDM system to control and store your part and assembly files; Intralink3, PDMLink?

Usually the description field is locked because the parameter is controlled from the PDM side.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
