Missing History Tab

Missing History Tab

Missing History Tab

(OP)
Hi,
Bit of an odd one, am training at the moment and one of the machines has "lost" its history tab from the (normal) resource bar.
I've tried re-setting window position in case it was detached and hiding, but no success.
Has anyone ever seen this happen before, and do you know where it might be?
Thanks in advance, Carl

RE: Missing History Tab

Try searching for "History" in command finder and see if you can bring it back doing that.

RE: Missing History Tab

Hi Carl,
Search for History.pax file on your system first. And use OPEN PALETTE (and open the HISTORY.PAX file.).
This should do work.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll give it a go when I can get to the machine in question!

Well... the history pallete has returned after loading a new role!

Couple of other oddities though, if anyone knows the answers:

1. resource bar is displaying full height of the NX window, i.e. right up to the close (x) button in top right corner, with the menu area moved aside to make room.
Any ideas why (it normally displays only to the bottom of the status line)?

2. assembly components are loading with chevrons either side of the part name i.e. <BRACKET>, and find selected components isn't working.

This is a training machine so probably just some settings been changed, but I've no idea how to sort these out! Advice would be welcome.

Thanks, Carl

RE: Missing History Tab

Which role did you load? Maybe you simply need to drag the menus to the top and they should want to snap up there. Or right click and add them if they aren't there.

RE: Missing History Tab

For #2, go to Preferences -> Assemblies and change the Descriptive part name style from description to file name.

Thanks cowski, that's the one!

Don't think I explained the resource bar problem very well though.
All the menus are fine, just the resource bar has extended itself upwards to occupy the whole right-hand side of the screen (instead of only the right-hand side of graphics area).
Has anyone ever seen it do that before?

Thanks, Carl

RE: Missing History Tab

Perhaps it has been undocked? Can you post a screen capture?

Hi, I've had a go at uploading screenshots, hope it works!
As you can see, the resource bar is just wrong, and it's encroaching into the toolbar area when expanded.

This only seems to affect the machine when the trainee log in is used.
If I log in as myself, all problems are gone (including what seems to be a "jumpy mouse" problem).
So it looks like maybe a user settings issue, but I've no idea what they've changed.

Thanks, Carl

Update: mystery solved (sort of).

As the computer was working fine if I logged in, someone in IT just deleted a local profile and (trainee) user profile for NX.
This has elminated the "dodgy resource bar" and "jumpy mouse" problems in one go, so I owe him a pint.

They remain a mystery, but I'm going to put it down to user errors.

Thanks for your help, Carl
