Estimate the Cost/Tonne of a High-End VRF installation.

Estimate the Cost/Tonne of a High-End VRF installation.

Estimate the Cost/Tonne of a High-End VRF installation.

Hey everyone,

I am looking for a lot of input even if you are just giving your opinion or an assumption.

What do you think the cost of a high end VRF installation is and what is the Tonnage of it?

I'm talking 3 phase, High Voltage, A lot of ducting + Energy Reclaim Ventilation.
Computer systems and the whole works.

Like sort of a cost per tonne.
E.g. If an 'x' ton unit costs 'y' fully installed, then

The Cost per tonne = (y/x)

Can you give the location of the cost also please if it's in Germany, Canada or the US and also what brand VRF it is?

I appreciate everyone's response and I welcome constructive criticism.
Thanks a lot!

I got my answer while searching thread a little bit more here.

I guess the favor I am asking you take a tedious and large ton project that you did last year. Divide the Total cost of the project by the Total Condenser Tonnage and post the Cost/Tonne and the location.

Hope this helps I'm from Philippines..
I got a 524 HP Project last year using HITACHI VRV we call it SET-FREE roughly 437TR. Using CIF (no duties and taxes) price for the Equipment and local installation cost (vat-able) its around 1,400USD/TR.

Note: Equipment was brought directly from Japan (cost of shipping, delivery to site and local taxes not included) and labor is local.

Thanks BedGuru,

Just to clarify, TR is Turkish Lira, am I correct?

RE: Estimate the Cost/Tonne of a High-End VRF installation.

Welcome, sorry for the confusion we use TR in Phils as abbreviate for Tons of Refrigeration.

Here is my equipment break down used in the project for your reference.
HP QTY TOTAL
40 10 400
36 3 108
16 1 16
TOTAL = 524
Outdoor Unit Models
RAS-40FSN1 390,000Btu
RAS-36FSN1 349,400Btu
RAS-16FSN1 158,800Btu
Total BTU = 5,107,000 / 12,000Btu/Hr = 425.58 exact Tons of Refrigeration used.

Japan Invoive US$ 372,630.71
China Invocie US$ 58,140.43
Taiwan Invoice US$ 12,451.16
Cost of installation is around Php 11,500,000.00 Say $275,000.00.

TOTAL COST = USD$718,222.36
TOTAL TONS OF REFRIGERATION = 425.58

So your cost per ton = 1,687.63 USD/TONS OF REF.

RE: Estimate the Cost/Tonne of a High-End VRF installation.

I routinely see US$4000/ton installed for heat pump systems and US$5000/ton installed for heat recovery with Mitsubishi Electric in the USA. The most common type of project would be schools with between 75 and 200 tons of cooling. Average zone size is 3 to 4 tons. If your zone size is smaller, your price per ton will increase dramatically. If your install size goes below approximately 40 tons, your price per ton will also increase as the head end controls are spread over a smaller amount of tons.

Best of luck.

Great stuff. The $5,000/Tonne sounds like it, $4,000/Tonne I guess if I am being generous. Below $4,000 seems like your putting yourself in problems though.

RE: Estimate the Cost/Tonne of a High-End VRF installation.

Most recent one I did, a small job, was about $4,250 TR, Mitsubishi. That doesn't count rebates and credits (eastern US).

RE: Estimate the Cost/Tonne of a High-End VRF installation.

I tend to be very cautious with such estimates.

They do serve for almost-the-same projects that appear in practice only when some large investors invest in model-object throughout the country, like gas stations, local drugstores, franchise restaurants etc.

Other than that they are not only useless but can lead to nasty miscalculations of costs for a simple reason that there are many factors which affect the price.

For any reasonable estimate there are very good sources like RSMeans, but desk needs to be warmed to come to fairly accurate estimate.
