difference between two Simpson products?

(OP)
Hi folks,

Offhand, can anyone tell me the difference between Simpson's ECC post caps and the ECCU post caps? The pictures look identical in the catalog and there are no notes explaining the difference. I plan to call them tomorrow when they're open, but I'd really like to finish this detail today.

cheers!

RE: difference between two Simpson products?

From the table it appears there are additional bolts on the ECCU model for additional Uplift capacity.

If you have net uplift you should probably use the U model.

RE: difference between two Simpson products?

The ECCU is rated for uplift (has more bolts into beam). The ECC has no published uplift capacity.
