I read that in the View Creation Wizard present in NX8.5 an enhancements regard the Dynamic view scale display, but sincerely I didn't see the difference from NX8 about this enhancements.

Thank you...

RE: View Creation Wizard enhancements NX 8.5

The only use of the term 'Dynamic' when reading about the enhancements made to the View Creation Wizard are as follows:

Large Assembly step

The Large Assembly step is a new step dynamically added to the Task Navigator whenever the number of components in the master assembly part exceeds...

And then later:

Why should I use it?

The View Creation Wizard provides a simple and effective way of creating on or more drafting views. The steps in the wizard dynamically display options relevant to the content found in the source model.

Is this the 'dynamic' references which you're asking about?

John,
attached a part of Siemens documentation made by Dave Wingrave Product Manager, NX Drafting & PMI.
The file is PLMW NX Drafting_2012.pdf

It's probably not as significant a 'feature' as you may think that it is. What this is referring to is that while you're in the final step of the View Creation Wizard and you're using the cursor to place your Drawing views, in the status line, as shown in the image below, the system will now display for you what the Drawing 'view scale' will be applied if you were to place the views as you see them at that particular moment:

Hi John,
it's possible in the future NX or better add an ER to have set automatically the sheet scale with the final scale assigned in the final step of the View Creation Wizard ?

Thank you...

RE: View Creation Wizard enhancements NX 8.5

Why do you want to mess with the so-called 'Sheet Scale'? Generally speaking, it's better to just set view scale and leave the sheets to always be 1:1.

John,
in the title block, the scale represent the scale of the component / assembly represented in the drawing. This came from the ISO standard like the ANSI standard regarding the title block compilation.
So if I put a shaft in a A3 and the shaft need to be scaled to 0.5 to stay in the A3 drawing, in the title block I put 'scale 1:2'.
Say that, if NX suggest me a scale 1:5, because I put 5 view of the shaft, I would like that set the sheet scale to 1:5.
Sincerely this is the common behavior in Pro-E, Inventor, Solid Edge and SolidWorks CAD and what all designers in the world do in the drawings.

Thank you...

RE: View Creation Wizard enhancements NX 8.5

You know, you're right. The View Wizard is NOT working as one would expect it to. If you use a Template with views predefined, which the system detects and thus avoids using the View Wizard, the Drawing scale is what gets set and NOT the Views scales. If you use the View Wizard, it's Views which get set and the Drawing remains at 1:1.

I need to check with Dave Wingrave to see if this is what the original design intent was.

Hi John,
I tried to use predefined views, but I'm not able to view the model in this views or link this views to the model.
Steps was :
Open a template and add 4 predefined view (top, front, right, isometric), save and close.
Create a block and create ad drawing choosing this template, but views stay blank.
In the assembly navigator of the drawing the is present.
Attached image of the result.

Thank you...

RE: View Creation Wizard enhancements NX 8.5

When you create your 'template' file you have to have at least a single dummy file to act as the 'Master Model' so that the template KNOWS to look for a component when it's used to create a Master Model drawing of some part file. In essence the NEW part will replace the now 'missing' component that can no longer be found.

Thank you John,
others three question :
In the previously post I talk about 'open a template'; this template is an NX standard A3 template that I've have open and added four predefined views.
This NX template, why doesn't have a dummy file ?
If I want to create our company templates, the dummy file must reside in the template also after saved as template like other referenced drawings files ?
The dummy file part must reside in the same location of our company template, so if I want to change our templates I need only open the template and make modification ?

Thank you...
