How can I add the file path as a note on Drafting?

How can I add the file path as a note on Drafting?

How can I add the file path as a note on Drafting?

(OP)
I'm not sure if this can be done, but I was wondering if one could add the full path of the file (as it appears on the Part Property dialog box) as a note on Drafting module.

Thanks in advanced,

Alex H.

RE: How can I add the file path as a note on Drafting?

There should be a command to extract the current file path, but I don't know how the new scripting works. In GRIP you could do it easily.

I knew there was a recent similar post, but for some reason couldn't find it.
Thanks John.

Thanks to all for your input.
I have another question. I have almost zero experience with programing, so I'm not sure if it would be possible to change the file that recommended on the posts, because I would like to add the date the Draft was created as well. I want to create a template, so instead of writing out the date, I´d just run the GRIP files, and all the info will be filled out.

What software can I use to change the code?

Regards,
Alex H.

RE: How can I add the file path as a note on Drafting?

So are you saying that you wish to also create an Attribute with the current date (the day the program was run) added to the part file? If so, in what format do you want the date to read?

If there is no "default" attribute as of the date the file was created. The problem with this case would be that I don´t make the Draft the same day the 3D model is done.

If it is possible I would like the date to be dd/mm/yyyy.

How does one modify this file?

Thanks,

Alex H.

RE: How can I add the file path as a note on Drafting?

The only practical approach is to edit the program so that it will record the date the program was run. I'll update the program for you and post a new copy later today.

BTW, if you wish, I can also extract the user ID of the person running the program and include that information in a Attribute as well.

John, that would be great. Right now I'm the only one working on this, but in the near future it will come in handy.

Thanks for all your help.

RE: How can I add the file path as a note on Drafting?

If you have a GRIP develop license you can compile your own program. Writing GRIP is very much like writting in BASIC.

I don't NX running here, but here is a modifed source code to add what you want.
Date is formatted as you wanted with 0 filled for less than 10.

RE: How can I add the file path as a note on Drafting?

OK, attached is the updated version of the GRIP program per my recent comments.

Note that I've fully annotated the source code so that if anyone wants to use it for themselves it'll help them to better understand what the program does and how it goes about doing it.

RE: How can I add the file path as a note on Drafting?

John,
Any chance on getting a modifed grip program based on the US standard of MM/DD/YYYY?
That woould help us immensely if we could have that.

Thanks,
Ryan
