Meggering of LV Busbar

Meggering of LV Busbar

(OP)
Hi all

May i ask is it necessary to do a megger test on a 400V MCC busbar for a shutdown maintenance? I have limited manpower and time, thus i would like to give this item a miss. Please advise if there is any standards that recommends maintenance for LV switchgear? Thanks!

RE: Meggering of LV Busbar

Not necessary. You get a lot more from IR inspection while it is energized. Then you know where to work when you are down.

RE: Meggering of LV Busbar

If you deenergise a swbd for maintenance in the area other then horiz and bus bar chambers then there is no need to do a megger test on the busbars prior to re energisation.

You should however megger any circuits /compartments in which you did do any maint work prior to switching those on.
