Hi Guys,

I just following the previous thread338-290140: CATHODIC PROTECTION OF DUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL and have some additional question.

If the soil have the SRB with sulphate content around 750 ppm, what is the suggestion for the level of protection to avoid this SRB attack our pipeline?

what is the maximum level to avoid the HISC? it seems this Duplex have narrow range for the potential protection?

Thanks for the inputs,

Best regards,
Putra

RE: CP for Buried Duplex

Sulphates in the soil does not mean there are SRB. An appropriate bacteria test will confirm whether they are present. If bacteria are identified, it becomes a problem to work out what negative potential is needed without enhancing the risk of HISC.
