Newbie to UG - quick question on shading
Newbie to UG - quick question on shading
(OP)
I was hoping someone could give me a quick tip on setup so shaded images work correctly. I'm on step one in the tutorial, so it may be pilot error. I have a dirt simple part with two circular extrusions - it looks like a top hat. When I change the view to shaded from wireframe - the screen is blank except for the coordinate system. If I mouse over the part, one of the extruded features turns shaded red. Click on, it turns shaded yellow - but the second extrusion is missing. And vice versa when I mouseover the other extrusion.
When one of the two features is clicked and it turns yellow, it will stay shaded and spin. Maybe I'm doing something totally stupid - but I don't have this problem on the windows machines here. (This is our first go around with linux).
See attached screenshot the two feature "top hat"
Thanks all

RE: Newbie to UG - quick question on shading
The operation system is Fedora 17. The compatibility information I saw was RHEL and SuSe. I figured this one was close to the RHEL version, but the drivers are a little more current in the Fedora releases. The graphics are the Intel HD 3000 included in the Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2710QE CPU. Intel's graphics, while they are never the best, usually have the best linux support (versus AMD or nVidia). On the Siemens sight, it said the Intel 3000 graphics were compatible with everything Siemens makes?
Anyway - maybe the answer is start over with RHEL? I'm just afraid that three days from now I'll be in the exact same position :)
