thread561-292276: Section View as Base View
This thread was extremely helpful, I just have one more question on it. I am taking the cross section of a large diameter ring and I only want the broken out cross section part visible, not the rest of the ring. I tried turning the background off and that did not work. I realize I can always change the view boundry and delete the unwanted lines, but is there another, more direct way to go about this?
Thanks in advance!

While it would be possible to add an 'Alternative Boundary' creation option to the Section View function, in the end it wouldn't really save you all that many steps from what it takes to do it manually today.

Is it "Section View" or "Revolved Section View" ?
The reason behind the question is that the mechanics behind the views are quite different and some options which works on "Section view" doesn't work equally on "revolved section views".
A "section view" is a cut solid, where the section line is the knife.
A "Revolved section view" is a type of projection where each section line segment will be the projection plane, each projection will be placed side by side in the resulting section view. Since this view is more or less flat some algorithms might/will work differently.

That view type isn't intended to hide all surrounding geometry, only cut the body inside the defined curves to the selected depth.
Can you instead do a "Section View" ? , then the "View style -> section -> toggle off background" will work.
The problem then is that you need to keep the parent view somewhere... - But it can be on a different sheet.

Tomas
