Hi!
I've recently installed UGS NX5 together with NX Nastran 5.0.
While doing the first and second tutorials of digital simulation I have to solve a model, when I do so I get no errors nor warnings and the analysis job monitor displays a "completed" message, so far so good, but when i go to the post processing navigator and i try to see stresses and displacements of the model I simply cant. The tutorial says i have to right click on the "solution 1" node and click on load. When i right click no option bar appears, additionally, there is an hourglass icon beside the "Solution 1"
I attach a picture.

RE: simulation post processing

There is no results file. I do not know why.

But if you look in the directory where you SIM file is, you should see a file with an f06 extension. That file should have all the warnings and errors listed.

NX5 and NXN5 had a different license scheme, so that may be the issue.

I would suggest you call GTAC if you can't find the F06 file. That would indicate that the license is not working.

Good luck.

Helrezer,
Ive read what you said and went to take a look at those files, they do exist but they weigh 0 bytes so there's nothing in them, then i proceeded to take a look at a .txt file in the same folder and found this error message

NX Nastran started Tue Jan 1 19:50:39 HeeS 2013
19:50:40 Beginning Analysis
All SSE XMM operations have been enabled.
All MMX operations have been enabled.
19:50:40 NSINIT: *** NSINIT ERROR 70 *** UNABLE TO OPEN UNIT 8
19:50:40 NSINIT: STOP
19:50:40 Analysis complete 3
FORTRAN STOP NSINIT/NSCLOSE

I investigated on it and apparently I need an update/patch on NX Nastran 5.0.
Now I have a doubt, at my college the computers have a working version of NX Nastran, is there a way I can pass it to my personal laptop?

Thanks for your help.

RE: simulation post processing

Hi Prokospit,
I faced a simmilar problem 2/3 years back (when working on NX5-NX6) and after some investigations (in my case the simulation ran properly but the post processing tree did not show any results) found out that the date check patch did the job.
You can download it from our GTAC site too i presume.
Do give it a try if nothing seems to work for you and ask the GTAC about the same too.Sorry i am just a novice on CAE so cannot be of much help further.
Best Regards
Kapil

RE: simulation post processing

Dear Prokospit,

The date check is the issue. It was found April 1 several years ago, but any version before NX7, has the issue.

I hope you can download the patch. I do not know how you can copy an installation of NX Nastran.

Yes it's definetely the date check issue, thanks guys for helping me find the error source. The thing is , I can't get that patch, the GTAC site asks me for a webkey account which I do not have and cannot create. If someone could please download it for me it would be great. I think I am asking too much but I really need this program.
Thanks to everyone!

RE: simulation post processing

You should be able to create a webkey account by enetring your userid and webkey id on the license file. Your site admion should have the webkey number you need.

Is UGS NX5 compatible with newer versions of NX Nastran? Say NX Nastran 8?
