Flammability of Gas Mixtures

Flammability of Gas Mixtures

Flammability of Gas Mixtures

(OP)
Hi!
I recently posted this query in elsewhere;
How can I calculate the flammability of a gas mixture from the analysis of the gas mixture, plus the individual flammability limits?

Also, how do I modify the flammability of the gas mixture by introducing some inert gas?(Nitrogen)

RE: Flammability of Gas Mixtures

I have also this same problem and I now know how to calculate gas mixture which contains nitrogen. But the problem is how to calculate flammability limits of gas mixture which contains water vapour?

RE: Flammability of Gas Mixtures

The flammability at the LEL is actually a function of the absorbed heat by the inert components.  Normally, flammability limits are given in air (Nitrogen diluent).  Because of the relative specific heats Water vapor has about 1.35 x the effect of nitrogen and CO2 has about 1.8 x the effect of Nitrogen so the limits are different for other inerts.  I have a calc posted at http://www.geocities.com/flareman_xs/Gases/Flammability_calc.html which may help you.

To Flareman, now, three months later, I still can not read the graphs on yor site, I get just empty squares. What should I do to be able to read and use them ? Thanks.

I'm not sure what your specific problem is but there are a couple of possibles.
1 - you may not be using IE 5 or above
2 - you may not have Excel on your computer (97 or above)
3 - Excel may be set for manual recalc (if so press F9 to get a calculation)

If none of these work, let me know.

Regards

RE: Flammability of Gas Mixtures

To Flareman, problem solved. I raised the site through Words 2000. Thanks.
