I have tried the thicken feature with no luck :( . Can anyone help? Thanks, Andrew

RE: creating a solid body from surface

A little bit more information would be helpful.
Are you getting an error message? If so, what does it say?
The problem is more than likely related to minimum curvature.
Can you create & thicken other simple planar surfaces?

Well sorry about that. I thought I had attached my solidworks part file... which I cannot figure out how to do.

Can you shoot me your email in a PM and let me send you the file?

RE: creating a solid body from surface

There is no PM at Eng-Tips.

To post a file, use the ...or upload your file to ENGINEERING.com link below the Reply box.

RE: creating a solid body from surface

What are you trying to thicken?
Running the Import Diagnostics on the STEP file fixed the 6 gaps & faulty face, and created a solid.

Wow, thanks for the help guys. That was easy enough! I'm new to solidworks but pretty darn efficient in cad/cam programs such as mastercam. Solidworks is kicking my butt as of now!
