Baffles thickness accord to TEMA

Baffles thickness accord to TEMA

Hi everybody,
I'd like to post a question that came to me somethimes while designing a heat exchanger according to TEMA.
When we want to design the baffles one should go to the table CB-4.41 where the minimal baffles thickness is indicated considering equipment diameters and unsupported tube length between central baffles.
I don't know if TEMA refers to:
1) the distance between baffles, which is the maximal unsupported tube length for most of the tubes or
2) two times the distance between baffles, which is the maximal tube length for some tubes
Thanks in advance and congratulations for this great Web site!

RE: Baffles thickness accord to TEMA

If all tubes are supported by each baffle, the distance between the baffle. If the baffles are staggered such that some of the tubes are supported at twice the baffle spacing, use two times the distance between baffles.
