clevise and pin for tension rod connection

(OP)

Tables 15-4 in the AISC 14th ed. Manaul provides the "maximum" diameter of the connecting rod (D) for various clevise size, and Table 15-5 provides a range of clevise size to match possible rod and pin sizes.

It seems to me that this implies that on the contract document, we should not only specify the clevise size, but also the pin size, to match the connecting rod size. However, many design drawings only specify the clevise number and rod size, not the pin size.

Does that mean once the clevise number is defined, the pin size would be locked in?

Thanks.
