Welded overlay 316 over a A216 WCB valve body

Dear all,

One of my vendors is offering welded in seats for valves that required threaded rings. As per my specs. this deviation is acceptable, but I am wondering what is the procedure to weld an overlay of 316 on a A216 WCB body valve.... does anyone know?

Thanks so much!

RE: Welded overlay 316 over a A216 WCB valve body

Typically, valve seats that are welded into the valve body are done either one of two methods - the valve body is machined to accomodate a separate seat ring that is either shrunk fit into the valve body and seal welded or the seat ring is partial penetration welded into the valve body. The second method is to apply a welded inlay directly on the valve body.
