Rubber Friction Coefficient vs. Durometer - 65 duro vs. 85 duro
Rubber Friction Coefficient vs. Durometer - 65 duro vs. 85 duro

Eng-tips members,
I have measured friction coefficient of 85 duro mixed rubber compound with no waxes or lubricants on smooth steel - the result is roughly 0.5. I would like extrapolate that data to 60 duro friction same basic rubber compound and same substrate.
Thanks,
Jeff C.

RE: Rubber Friction Coefficient vs. Durometer - 65 duro vs. 85 duro
by reducing hardness you will get higher co.of friction.
you can use graphite powder that give you low co.of friction.
or you can use Teflon powder to reduce value of friction.
also you can reduce filler to lower compound hardness and use graphite power or Teflon powder.
