[ANSYS Meshing] Can't get a conformal mesh between bodies

[ANSYS Meshing] Can't get a conformal mesh between bodies

(OP)
I’m trying to solve a spar meshed with shell elements.

In order to get shell elements, I created 2D surfaces using “Surface from Face”

I formed a new part to identify it as a one body

But solution I get is wrong

2D body (DM)

3D body (Mechanical, after adding thickness)

RE: [ANSYS Meshing] Can't get a conformal mesh between bodies

It looks that you have 3 separate surfaces. Despite the fact that you have formed them as one part they stay as separate bodies.
I am not sure is there a geometry tollerance you could play with to close tha gaps between the 3 surfaces... The best way would be to create surfaces from adjusting faces or manualy close the gaps.
Once they are touching you will have common nodes and one piece part.
