Am I just lost? Using NX 7.5, and I would like to "clip" part of my view. I don't need to show the right portion of my view, and would like to trim it back some, so I can add drawing notes in that section. Where is the tool for this function? I have used command finder but I might be searching the wrong terms. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, can you not modify a sheet border? Like the title block lines and categories?

RE: View clipping

Select the View, press MB3 and select View Boundary... When the dialog opens, change the option in the middle of the dialog from 'Automatic Rectangle' to 'Manual Rectangle' and then using the cursor drag a 'rectangle' over the view encompassing that portion of the view that you wish to remain visible.

As for your second issue, what do you mean by modify a 'sheet border'? Are we talking about editing the master template or an existing drawing? Also, are you using the Drawing Templates which were installed with NX or have you created customized versions?

Thanks! My view has been clipped.

The sheet is a standard seed file that was probably installed with NX. It has Siemens in the title block. Still new to all these programs, I apologize ahead of time if I don't properly answer the question.

RE: View clipping

If you wish to edit/modify the master template files, they can be found in the '...\UGII\templates' folder. They are just normal NX part files which can be opened and modified. I would save a copy of them someplace safe first and then make changes to the originals in the 'templates' folder.

BTW, starting with NX 8.0 we have provided a new set of tools to help create intelligent Drawing Borders and Title Blocks, so if there's a chance that you will be upgrading anytime soon, you may wish to wait and do it right using the newer tools.

So I can't edit the border from my drawing file? I have to manually edit the master file? Thanks for the help.

RE: View clipping

No, you should be able to edit it in your drawing, just that it was probably created on a visible but not selectable layer so you may need to change its status before you'll be able to select anything.
