Raw Seawater Injection

Raw Seawater Injection

Raw Seawater Injection

(OP)
Can anyone help me to find papers or documents that involves Raw Seawater Injection on the seabed? I want to learn more about this, how it works and if this system is in use today.
Are there any problems with this system?
What equipment is used with tis injection system, and who makes it?
Maby there is an separator in use with this system......

RE: Raw Seawater Injection

into resevoirs?

Its in use in many oil fields.

Equipment is fairly standard. The seawater must however be treated. Oxygen must be removed and its fairly common to remove sulphur also.

Best Regards

RE: Raw Seawater Injection

Hey not true!!

'Raw' seawater injection is taking place in a couple of fields in Norway. Most noticeablly Statoil's Norne field. Raw basically means that the water is aerated ie no aeration column, and the water is filtered to say 100 microns and is treated with biocide and perhaps nitrates to manage the H2S levels.

Suggest you contact Raw Water Engineering in the UK. They have done work on subsea Rawwater engineering and the equipment required. http://www.rawwater.com

I am also working on Raw Seawater injection for my own production company. What applications are you looking at? Perhaps we can exchange information? Feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Regards
Hector 100.

RE: Raw Seawater Injection

Big issue with raw water injection is corrosion. Just as with everything is comes down to economics. Ie additional equipment to dearate but cheap tubing and completion or no deaeration but exotic tubing and completion material which is expensive. We've been through this loop several times and always ended up on dearation but we a big op Co that don't like to take risks!

As a side thought I don't think we've ever considered corrosion inhibitor in this situation. Perhaps it could swing the balance, just a thought

Craig
