Parts list cleared in NX 8.0?

Parts list cleared in NX 8.0?

Parts list cleared in NX 8.0?

(OP)
Hello people :)

My explanation skills are not all to good, hope you hang on.

I am having the following problem. I made multiple assembly drawings in NX7.5.5.4 MP07 with corresponding parts lists. One drawing would hold multiple versions of the same assembly. The first model is fully loaded in the drawing, the others are "reference only" (They have the icon of a cube on a drawing)

In 7.5 I was able to make parts lists of these reference only assemblies (although I had to manually pick the parts)

Only, when we updated to NX 8.0.3 MP01 all these reference only parts lists got cleared and I am not able to recreate these parts lists, the parts just refuse to show up in the table. Only the fully loaded assembly(with the icons without drawing picture) kept his parts list.

How can I make sure the reference only assemblies also keep their parts lists?

Note, I only have NX, no teamcenter

Kind regards,

Matthijs Rijkmans

RE: Parts list cleared in NX 8.0?

Can you clarify the: "the others are "reference only" (They have the icon of a cube on a drawing)" ?
A screendump of this "cube"?

Tomas

RE: Parts list cleared in NX 8.0?

I assume that John will correct me if i'm wrong here,: This type of reference component is not intended to show up at all in the partslist.
The intention behind the feature is to show "something related which shouldn't be included in the partslist",
Example : If you design the generator for a car, you might then want to show the surrounding details, which should not be listed in the partslist.
To my knowledge, you cannot convert a reference component to a "regular" component.

Tomas

Well, my surprise was that is was possible in NX 7.5 and not anymore in NX 8.0. The parts lists created with 7.5 went blank in NX 8.0

If a part has to be "regular" to be able to create a parts list of it, how do I make sure the other parts are placed "regular"? Because when I want to place a different version of a assembly (created using Part Failies) they automatically become "reference only" parts.

Kind regards,

Matthijs

RE: Parts list cleared in NX 8.0?

If you add components using the "Base view" dialog , you will get reference components.
If you instead add components using the "Add component", they will be "regular".
Maybe you need to turn on the assemblies application under the start button first to see the toolbar/ option under the assemblies pulldown.

But when I do that, I get all the parts that are in the drawing file in the parts list, not just 1 version. So if I have 4 versions of the part, I also have 4 times the parts I need to make the assembly in the parts list.

I was able to filter the list in NX7.5 but not anymore in NX8.

RE: Parts list cleared in NX 8.0?

I'm not sure i follow you here,
See the attached image.
Make sure that the "first" "regular component" resides on a different layer from the "next" "regular component" etc, then view "A" can show layer "x" and view "B" can show layer "Y" etc etc.

Regards,
Tomas
