Cannot cutout an STP model

Cannot cutout an STP model

Cannot cutout an STP model

(OP)
I am using Solid Edge V20.

I downloaded a stp file from a vendor and I proceeded to import as an assembly as I needed to move some of the parts once the import process completed.

All went fine but I am unable to cut a hole through the model, in either the Assembly driven cutout or an assembly-part driven cutout.

If I save the stp file as a part I can cut a hole but not if I saved it as an assemnbly.

I right clicked the assebmly in the left (parts) pane and all compoents are SHOWN..so I guess however it was created, I am getting the best I can.

I even created another plane to start the cut but nothing worked.

I am a loss how to cut a hole...if I can one at all for this model

Thanks in advance

Jay

RE: Cannot cutout an STP model

Is it possible that the parts translated as surfaces which will not let you put a feature through them? This can usually be fixed by turning on the "Heal & Stitch" option when translating.

Thanks for the reply. The issue turned out to be multi body parts in the model. The vendor simplified the model and sent it to me .. all is OK.

Where is the setting for "Heal & Stitch" option when translating in Solid Edge V20? I don't see any option when opening an STP file...
