thread727-297038: Stress extrapolation for tubular joints - FE models

I am trying to investigate the variation of weld SCF with the ratio of chord to brace diameters in tubular joints. I prepared a model on ANSYS but got stuck on how to model the weld to satisfy the following:

1. Create points that represent those recommended for extrapolation to find out the Hot Spot Stresses.
2. The variation of location of weld toe as we move around the perimeter of the joint.
3. Whether the weld is best represented by a shell or a solid element.

Please if anyone can help me out with these queries.
