Hi Everyone,

I have a lots of fittings SA-105,which with same heat number, same class and manufacturer, only different is size. where coded marking be use, UG-77(a) requires the transfer of "the original identification markings required in the specifications for the material,is it acceptable to tracing to original marking excluding size?

All of our fittings come with the heat number, material grade and manufacturer stamped/etched/marked on each fitting. This is how our vendor provides them to us. We do this for all fitting that are welded directly to the Section VIII vessel. Everything that comes after the 1st fitting, we use B31.1 & B31.3. I may be mistaken but I believe small fittings (under 6" dia) don't fall under the scope of Section VIII. Also, I believe that B31.1 allows you to check in fittings without transferring all markings - but you have to inspect parts and documents on your receiving report.
