Thermal sim, heat loss in W

Thermal sim, heat loss in W

Thermal sim, heat loss in W

(OP)
Hello,

I have a simple question that is yet hard to figure out. Here it is:

Say one has a simple steel plate of 1 m2 and 2 mm thick. On one side, the temperature is 67C. The ambient temperature is 17C. There is no flow of air or liquid or whatsoever. Question: how do I simulate the heat loss in W? I only really need to know the loss due to conduction, but I would like to know how to calc the convection and radiation too.

So far I have the both temperatures in the right places (and of course I have the model). It gives me a decent sense of the temperatures in the steel plate. Yet the heat load and flux (as they're called in NX) stay 0 W or W/m2.

Can anyone help me with fixing this, so it shows the right heat loss? I can try setting the load and see if my temperatures fit my calculations. This is just trial and error and will take ages :(

Anyway, I'm using NX7.5.

Thanks in advance!
