Pull Off Adhesion Test
Pull Off Adhesion Test
(OP)
Hello All,
We have performed the Pull off adhesion test for vessel plate ( mat'l 516-60N +HIC), test type is
self aligned adhesion tester in ASTM D4541, the accepable range is more than 10 Mpa. but in three sample
two were failed.
Now my query is there any co relation on DFT to faliure of adhesion test, as we need to apply 500 micro
and i saw our sub contractor applied more than 750 micro. so is it that more the DFT more tha possibility of faliure
of adhesion test ?
Please advise as i am quite new on this feild.

As already said, is it a one coat system or multilayer ?
We also need to know where the break occurs to have an idea of the why this happen.
- Inside the paint
- Interface glue/paint
- Interface paint/substrate
- if multilayer, interface layer/layer
