Sintered Brake Pads
Sintered Brake Pads
(OP)
Does anyone know what type of material is used to make sintered brake pads? I have designed a custom cone clutch for a recreation project and I would like to have custom rings made out of brake material. I was just wondering what this material is, and if I can contact a place to have these made custom. Also, I'm trying to do some calculations on wear rate between brake material and steel, but I'm not sure where to start (just want to get a rough estimate of product lifetime). Any ideas?

One common material for disc brake pads is sintered copper. The powder used is actually a combination of copper and other materials. The copper particles help with thermal management.

Hope that helps.
