Help: Gear Tooth Thickness
Help: Gear Tooth Thickness
(OP)
Hello!
I'm curretnly designing a plentary gear train for a wind turbine - for University coursework.
Could somebody help me find a method to calculate the tooth thickness on a gear.
At the moment the only calculation I can find is t=circular pitch / 2. I'm looking for along the lines of torque so I can find what the minimum thickness needs to be before the teeth break.
Thank you in anticipation!

RE: Help: Gear Tooth Thickness
This should be in your machine design textbook. If this is your first semester of machine design, this is a very reasonable question to direct at your professor.
