Can we use cathodic protection in order to eliminate corrosion in underground galvanized piping?

RE: cathodic protection for galvanized piping

While eliminate may be a strong word notice discussion at e.g. http://eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=95745. While maybe not your application, sounds like most folks talk about coating/wrapping steel pipe with dielectric coatings when CP is envisioned.
