(OP)
Have a pelleting die to drill holes on the surface. I need to design an indexer for it. Please visit www.umt-group.com/Products/Consumables/Pellet_Dies/body-pellet-dies.html for a better idea of the product.  Max. OD of die is 960mm, ID760mm, width260mm. The die shall be mounted vertically on the rotory indexing table.

I want to use SKF32224 bearings to support the indexer shaft with an CNC chuck mounted on one end of shaft, and a welded gear box to be the housing of the shaft and bearings. I also want to use a worm gear to drive the shaft.

Can 15mm thick plate be used to make the gear box? Any body ever had such experience?
