Anyone else have trouble opening certain assembly files in NX8, but they opened fine in NX7?

Anyone else have trouble opening certain assembly files in NX8, but they opened fine in NX7?

(OP)
Hello everyone,

Just some upfront FYI...I am working with Teamcenter 8.3.3.4 and NX 8.0.3.4

About two months ago, I upped to NX 8 and since have been having much trouble opening certain asms and get the attached
errors/warnings.

Normally, the first step taken is launching the NX asm from TC with "All Components" load option. Some load perfectly fine with no issues whatsoever, and then we have the warning (see attachment). This is the initial crippler which stops all loading and prevents NX file from opening.

Next, I load "Stucture Only" and load each subassembly or component one by one. Eventually, one (or multiple) of the individual components I've attempted to load gets an error that reads:

"Error recovery completed for the following error:
An operation was attempted on an object needing a file root but lacking one".

So, it seems that must be the problem child...but when I open the problem child part on its own, it has no problem opening up just fine.

Has anyone experienced this? It is really stopping production from my engineering group and seems that it will not be solved as quickly as I need it to be. Any info is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!

RE: Anyone else have trouble opening certain assembly files in NX8, but they opened fine in NX7?

I had some issues where I received attribute errors. This was a show stopper for us going from 7.5 to 8. If you cannot open your parts/assemblies no use upgrading. I installed MP1 and it fixed the issue.
There is actually an MP2 release available.

Jurgen

Thanks Jurgen...I will try it out and let you know.

Do you have any specific attribute errors for reference?

Thanks again!

RE: Anyone else have trouble opening certain assembly files in NX8, but they opened fine in NX7?

I'd agree with Jurgen, update to NX8.0.3 MP02 and test as we had a customer with a severe issue sounding much like yours which seems to be fixed (assemblies that didn't open at all can now be opened).

Pete,

The error we were getting was "same title cannot be used on two different attributes".
This was fixed with MP1.

Thanks for the additonal info, Jurgen.

I have the MP2, which did not fix the issue...dang!

It is a PR now with GTAC and hopefully will be resolved soon. If anyone comes across a potential fix, please let me know.

Thanks for all the help, everyone!

Pete
